Airfare Distribution Leader To Drive Innovation and Industry Collaboration
ATPCO’s Rolf Purzer officially begins his tenure as CEO and President
DULLES, VIRGINIA – February 6, 2017 – On his first day as President and CEO, ATPCO’s Rolf Purzer emphasized the company’s focus on better and faster innovation and industry collaboration for customers. Purzer laid out a vision for ATPCO to serve all airfare product content in all distribution models, including New Distribution Capability (NDC).
“I am humbled by this opportunity and begin this journey with you having a clear sense of purpose,” Purzer said as he spoke with employees. “As the travel industry evolves, we will continue to merge our competencies in travel and technology to deliver solutions our customers need today and into the future,” Purzer said.
Purzer played a leading role driving ATPCO’s corporate strategy since his arrival in 1996. He previously served as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), where he directed global product and customer strategy. Before joining ATPCO, he held positions across marketing, commercial, and strategic planning at Deutsche Lufthansa in Germany and Amadeus in Spain.
ATPCO’s Board of Directors also elected and approved the appointment of two senior executives to the officer level, effective February 1st.
Thomas Gregorson was named Vice President of Products and Solutions. Gregorson has worked in the travel industry for more than 25 years with previous roles at Northwest Airlines and Amadeus. Gregorson has been an active leader across the industry in areas such as dynamic pricing, automation of reissues, and negotiated fares.
John Murphy was named Vice President of Technology and is responsible for setting the overall vision and direction for ATPCO’s technology strategy. Murphy previously held leadership positions in several high-growth Internet content companies and has extensive background in all aspects of enterprise IT.
“Rolf and the officers possess the innovative and agile mindset needed to successfully embrace business today, as well as emerging challenges facing the industry,” said ATPCO Board of Directors Chair Jerry Foran.
The ATPCO leadership team will sharpen their focus on reliable and efficient distribution efforts across all distribution models. Research and Development (R&D), innovation and new solutions enable NDC, expand dynamic pricing capabilities, provide options to access and integrate data via APIs, and the creation of new fare management products. To help fuel this renewed push to support industry innovation, ATPCO has increased the size of its developer corps by 20%.
